Indonesia reaffirms unwavering diplomatic support for Palestine

Jakarta, Indonesia Alyoum – Support for Palestinian statehood and the defense of developing nations will remain at the core of Indonesia’s foreign policy, newly appointed Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir reaffirmed during his inaugural press address on Monday (October 12).
“Indonesia’s attitude towards Palestine has never changed because our constitution has not changed either,” Arrmanatha stated, emphasizing that Indonesia will stand alongside the Palestinian people until an independent and sovereign Palestinian state is fully realized.
To support this goal, Indonesia will continue executing concrete measures, including advocating for the protection of civilians, delivering humanitarian aid, and supporting recovery and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip following years of Israeli aggression.
Arrmanatha framed the Palestinian struggle as part of Indonesia’s broader vision to champion the Global South in an increasingly fragmented geopolitical landscape.
As one of the world’s largest developing democracies, Indonesia aims to leverage its non-aligned position as a crucial diplomatic bridge.
“Indonesia’s ability to talk to all parties is our diplomatic asset,” the Foreign Minister remarked.
He reiterated that Indonesia will leverage key international platforms – including the G20, BRICS, MIKTA, OIC and D-8 – to consistently advance the interests of Palestine and the Global South.
Arrmanatha committed to grounding Indonesia’s foreign policy in the Bandung Principles established during the 1955 Asian-African Conference to defend developing nations and advocate for global justice.
“In the Bandung Spirit, we will continue to utilize these assets to promote peace, including peace in Palestine,” he noted.
The commitment aligns with remarks delivered by outgoing Foreign Minister Sugiono during the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in late September, where he described the Palestinian crisis as the ultimate test of global conscience and international law.
“Palestine remains one of the clearest tests of this principle, as well as a test of our conscience,” Sugiono said, warning that multilateral institutions risk losing credibility if continuous violations of international law go unchecked.
